Schools

I began teaching in a secondary modern school in north west London in 1970; I have always had an affinity with young people and spent many years working with them in inner city settings. It has been an enormous privilege going back into schools and working with them as a writer. I can work with all ages, in primary or secondary schools, and have always negotiated and tailored my workshops to suit the pupils’ and school’s needs.

I have helped young people produce school magazines, or anthologies of their writing. I worked with them on aspects of their English GCSE work, from poetry in the Anthology to workshops on persuasive writing. I have also helped them perform their work to audiences, both in and out of school.

I carry Public Liability Insurance, and have had a recent CRB check.

I am at present Writer in Residence for Calderdale High Schools, and for the Faculty of Education, the University of Leeds.
