Out Clubbing with Petrarch - April 2018
We’re ready for our journey through the night,
To take a lighted carriage into dark,
And return at pigeons’ coo, our city lark,
When pavements gleam with dew in early light.
We sit, chatter while we ready for flight,
Air heavy with kitchen flowers, and the talk
Of shared, past adventures, striking a spark
As excitement builds. The taxi comes in sight
And we leave the house on a corkscrew drive
To a deserted industrial city street
Where folk spill from cabs, each joyful cry
A fanfare as old friends start to arrive.
The voyage begins, and our growing fleet
Gathers, sails, finds a star to steer us by.
